Start With Ownership, Not the Label
A gold fund, a token, and a website can all be described as digital assets. They create different legal claims, costs, failure risks, and responsibilities.
Before comparing possible returns, identify the asset, custodian, transfer rules, liquidity, ongoing work, and protections that apply.
Choose the Research That Matches the Asset
- Digital gold: identify whether you own fund shares, vaulted metal, a tokenized claim, or something else.
- Digital currency: compare custody, volatility, trading access, fraud risk, and the protections that may not apply.
- Websites: verify revenue, traffic, ownership, transferability, technical debt, and the work needed after acquisition.
- Pre-revenue websites: price the evidence already built without paying the seller for a business the buyer still has to create.
The Same Question Protects Every Buyer
Ask what must remain true for the asset to keep its value. Then test the failure case. A useful review explains both the upside and the part that can break.
