The Evaluation Standard
Each comparison begins by defining the decision the reader is trying to make. A beginner with $500, a long-term investor automating an IRA, and a buyer evaluating a website should not receive the same answer.
We collect facts from provider websites, current disclosures, regulatory sources, and product documentation. Material fee and minimum claims link to their sources and carry a review date.
What We Measure
- Total cost at realistic balances, including flat fees and underlying expenses.
- Minimums to open, invest, receive advice, or unlock important features.
- Ownership, custody, liquidity, and transferability.
- Portfolio construction, investment access, and risk controls.
- Human support, service limitations, and account experience.
- Conflicts created by affiliated products, cash programs, referrals, or sponsorships.
- Fit for the specific investor and use case named by the page.
How Rankings Change
A best pick is dated. It can change when fees, minimums, ownership, regulation, product access, or service quality changes. We keep the prior reasoning visible where it helps explain the update.
We do not convert every input into a fake decimal score. When two choices solve different problems, the page says so.
Corrections
If a material fact is wrong or out of date, contact us with the source. We review the evidence, correct the page when warranted, and update the review date.
